Today, Praying for Grace is asking ‘What’s Up on Your Monday?’ and, as this Monday’s been a bit different for my, I thought I’d answer. Plus I love this Garfield graphic – my Monday hasn’t been that bad though, I promise!
I don’t usually work on Mondays. I do Saturdays instead. But with my mother being ill and then me being unwell I’ve gotten behind so I took Sunday as a Sabbath’s day of rest and worked today. I’m grateful to be able to say that I am now caught up and can finish early – my usual hours are 11am until 7pm. I should point out too that my ‘work’ is voluntary work for an animal charity where they are good enough to not mind me suddenly being ill and dropping everything when I have to. I wish there were people like that in the ‘real’ world of work. But, really, I love what I do and wouldn’t change it for the world.
Today I’ve done some admin type things which weren’t very exciting. I delivered a humane trap to a farm where they want to get their feral cats neutered. I’ve offered advice to a woman whose cat is spraying in the house. And I’ve arranged for a family to have their pet neutered. In between, I’ve run errands, bought groceries, picked up some paperwork from the vet, got the house ready for the cleaner to come tomorrow and done a bit of knitting. It’s been a good day.
Tonight I’m going to SlimmingWorld (don’t get your hopes up – I’ve only been on the Plan since Saturday). But I’m looking forward to the meeting (haven’t decided what knitting to take with me.)
The only thing that didn’t quite go according to plan (so far – it’s not 6pm yet!) is that I didn’t get to Mass this morning. I don’t have a good reason for this omission – I just didn’t get myself moving in time. I’d like to get back into the habit of going each day – it’s such a lovely way to begin. I won’t be able to go tomorrow though as cleaning will be in progress and, as I’m fostering a blind cat, I need to be at home to reassure her and make sure she doesn’t escape from the living room – she’s unable to socialise normally with William-cat and Sammy-cat as she can’t see their body language.
