Elspeth Thompson – The Wonderful Weekend Book – 2010/TBR

The Back of the Book: It’s the weekend!

Forget supermarket aisles, traffic jams and chores.  Instead, reinstate the tea party, write proper letters, celebrate the seasons with local or home-grown food and drink, or even take your neighbour’s dog for a walk.  This book is packed with ideas that will help restore the balance in your life, reconnect you to the seasons and other people, and – quite literally – not cost the earth.

NotJustLaura’s Review: I’ve bought this book for a couple of friends and family members who’ve been having a bit of a tough time and finally decided that it was time to read it for myself.

Ms Thompson offers her own philosophy on weekends with ideas for specific seasons or which are suitable all-year-round.  This is an incredibly warm, friendly book and very readable.  I’m going to hang onto this copy and try out some of the suggestions myself.

  1. I read this last year and really enjoyed it though I can’t say I’ve tried any of the ideas yet! Matthew and I have been making an effort to do more things together at the weekend though, so it’s had an effect somewhere!

I think it matters more that you’re doing *something* than that you work through the suggestions one by one. What kind of things have you and Matthew been up to?
