Walking on Sunshine

Glynn MacNiven-Johnston – Martin de Porres – 2009/049

The Back of the Book: Martin de Porres is a saint whose ppularity has remained undiminished despite his obscure history as a seventeenth century Dominican in South America.  His humility and love in the face of racism and prejudice, make him a model for our own time of conflict.  In 1962 he became the first South American black saint and patrol of inter-racial brotherhood.  It was, however, is care for the poor, the suffering and even sick animals that made him famous.  He performed many miraculous cures in his lifetime and to this day his intercession is sought in many areas with great effect.

NotJustLaura’s Review: This is a brief account of the life of St Martin de Porres.  I was interested to read his biography as he is said to have been able to communicate with animals.
