Grandmother's Footsteps

Grandmother's Footsteps

The Back of the Book: Penelope Betjeman, wife of the Poet Laureate, had a lifelong passion for India.  It began when she was a girl in the twenties and did not end until her death on a Himalayan mountain in 1986.  The year before she died Penelope took her granddaughter on one of her legendary Indian expeditions and six years later Imogen Lycett Green returned to India to retrace that trip.  Grandmother’s Footsteps, part affectionate memoir, part travel book is the story of an unforgettable journey and marks the debut of a talented new author.
