Jennifer Moorcroft – Elizabeth of the Trinity – 2009/048

The Back of the Book: Her Message and Spirituality

Elizabeth Cataez, born of a military family, died at the age of 26 as a cloistered Carmelite nun in Dijon, France.  Known when a youngster for her beauty, temper tantrums and great skill at the piano, Elizabeth’s spiritual life came to be marked by a deep realization that the Trinity itslf wishes to occupy our soul.  Close to death she said:

In heaven … my mission will be to draw souls to interior recollection, by helping them to renounce self in order to adhere to God in all simplicity and love.

This small collection, taken from her letters, offers a rare insight into how to love and ‘be occupied’ by Jesus.  She was beatified by John Paul II in 1984.

NotJustLaura’s Review: This is another booklet read in my search for a Confirmation Name.  Both my Grandmothers were called ‘Elizabeth’ so this Saint seemed an obvious choice.  Although this is an interesting book, I don’t feel drawn to her spirituality so ‘Clare’ remains my favourite.
