The Back of the Book: Tom Wright’s eye-opening comments on the gospel and what it might mean for us are combined, passage by passage, with his new translation of the Bible text. Making use of his true scholar’s understanding, yet writing in an approachable and anecdotal style, Wright captures the immediacy of Matthew’s gospel in a way few writers have.
Why (and how) I got this book: I chose this series because it is carried by both the Catholic and Protestant bookshops in Glasgow.
NotJustLaura’s Review: I found this a much easier read than the first volume of the series – I’m not sure why, as it’s in the same format. Once again, Mr Wright offers a friendly, down-to-earth commentary on the Gospel along with his own, very accessible translation. I’m looking forward to reading the next in the series and am thinking about buying the study guides that go along with them.
