Walking on Sunshine

When I was four-years-old, I asked my mother why my best friend would be going to a different school when we started after the summer.  She would be going to St Julie’s.  My mother explained that Theresa was Catholic.  I asked why I couldn’t be Catholic too and didn’t really get an answer.

When I was 37 years old, at the Easter Vigil of 2010, I was Received into the Roman Catholic Church.  In the intervening years I’d tried different religions, different churches, no religion, no church but never found what I was looking for.  And I kept going back to Catholicism.  My reasons for converting have changed and developed but I still think God put the desire into my heart when I was four.

  1. Congrats on entering the Church! I don’t think I realized – the last time I checked out your blog – that you were in RCIA & preparing to enter the Church THIS Easter. Thank goodness Our Lord puts the desire to know Him in our hearts … I’m still learning, most often as I teach my kids.
