Walking on Sunshine

About

wedding2It’s hard to know where to start, isn’t it?  I could give you a list of facts:

Age:  40
Gender:  Female
Nationality:  Scottish
Occupation:  Retired
Marital Status:  Single
Pets:  2 x feline

It seems so clinical.

I could tell you the purpose of this website?

This blog is all about amalgamation.  I want to tie together several areas of interest which are currently served by several blogs, web-services, databases and the, somewhat reliable, retrieval system of my mind.  I’ve been working on it sporadically for about three years.  My current interests are gardening (vegetables), cooking, knitting, reading and cats so those are thing things you’re most likely to find here.

What else could I tell you?  I’m not a morning person although I like to rise early.  I like structure and spontaneity.  I love living alone but like company – sometimes!  I love horses but am allergic.  Am I a woman of contradictions?  Maybe.

I’m a perfectionist.  But, as I write, I realise that this page will always be a work in progress because I am.  And I think I’ll leave it at that.

  1. Hello! 🙂 I don’t think I have ever seen a pic of you and for some reason I always pictured you with light brown hair. But you are lovely no matter what color your hair is. 🙂

Do have one question: I want to know how you get up early since your not a morning person. I’m not a morning person either and have such a hard time getting up in the mornings. Any tips??

‘ello. Thanks for following me over here, Angie. You know it’s always good to see you.

The short answer is that getting up early is ‘what works’ as opposed to ‘what I like.’ It’s a bit like eating chocolate. I’d be quite happy to live on the stuff but what works to keep me healthy(ish) is a balanced diet. So I eat chocolate sometimes (and accept that I won’t lose weight when I over-indulge). I also sleep in sometimes – and accept that I won’t feel so good for the rest of that day.

I find this a really interesting question (so thanks for asking it) and I’ve made a note to write more about it. I think you may just have suggested the subject for this site’s first ‘bloggy’ post 🙂

      • Your short answer makes sense (I, too, could eat chocolate all day 😉 ) If you do write more about this then I look forward to reading about it. 🙂

  2. I was browsing the sewing and knitting blogs on wordpress, and there you were! I am happy to meet you, Laura! Thank you for your kind comments! I am so glad to meet a sensible Catholic Lady with so many wholesome interests. May God Bless you, and I would like to continue to visit from time to time. All for Thee, Eucharistic Heart of Jesus; all for Thee!

      Hi Adrienne,

It’s nice to meet you also.

I’ve not been crafting since starting this blog so those pages are empty as of yet. I feel like I’ve been a ‘Beginning Knitter’ for ages – I’m very good at knitting blankets and not much else! But I do enjoy working with yarn. I tend to do more in the winter and our weather is looking increasingly autumnal so do watch this space.

Just to clarify – I’d say I’m a Seeker rather than a Catholic. At the moment I’m going to Mass and trying my best to live as a Catholic but I’m actually a member of a Protestant Church. I’m hoping that my Parish will start an RCIA class in September/October and that I will be able to participate.

      God bless.

      Laura

  3. NJL, after your comment on my blog I had to come check where you are from. Scotland! How I would love to visit Scotland (and Ireland)! My mother’s ancestry was entirely from Ireland (Americans talk about such thing 🙂 I’ve always wanted to see the land where my ancestors lived. There were some from Scotland too. God bless you!
